Intrinsic safety (IS) is a protection technique for safe operation of electrical equipment in hazardous areas by limiting electrical and thermal energy, available for ignition to safe levels. For potentially hazardous (for example Class I, Div. 1) environments, Hardy Process Solutions has not only designed safety into its new IS instruments but also its other scale components with an appropriate level of protection for different applications. Hardy recommends using intrinsically safe low-energy instruments, load cells, scales, and summing boxes. These products limit power and current to them through fibre optics or other low power design. Other applications may require intrinsic barriers that prevent energy from crossing over from the safe area.
Weight Indicators are multi-purpose instruments used for a wide variety of process weighing applications including batching, blending, filling/dispensing, force measurement, level by weight and weight rate monitoring. They can provide local display or transfer clean, accurate weight data to a PC, PLC/PAC or DCS over a variety of network interfaces as part of an accurate industrial weighing system.
The Hardy line of blind weight transmitters are low-cost, loop powered, two-wire analog devices used primarily in level by weight and force measurement applications to a DCS, PLC/PAC or PC for system control. Weight transmitters can be connected to load cells, industrial floor and platform scales or bench scales to provide an accurate weighing system.
